I plan on putting baskets on the shelves behind glass to organize the games, movies, ect. :) But for now, I'm cleaning and doing laundry so I can pick my husband up tomorrow and have a fun-filled weekend with him:) Yippee!
Woe is me...I feel I cannot keep up with the loss of soldiers in the war. It is heart-breaking to check the casualty list and find new names added. So many are from Ft Drum...:( Please also remember the officers who are also grieving the loss of their men...they take a lot of the loss personal, and some are struggling with this responsibility. Here are some names recently added the last two days to our fallen heroes list!
Cpl. Darby T. Morin, 25, of Victoria, Canada, died Aug. 22 in Logar province, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained during a vehicle rollover. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y. He leaves behind and wife and 2 children.
Lance Cpl. Donald J. Hogan, 20, of San Clemente, Calif., died Aug. 26 while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif
The Department of Defense announced today the death of four soldiers who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. They died Aug. 25 in southern Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked their vehicle with an improvised explosive device. They were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, 5th Stryker Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Wash.
Killed were:
Capt. John L. Hallett III, 30, of California.
Capt. Cory J. Jenkins, 30, of Arizona.
Sgt. 1st Class Ronald W. Sawyer, 38, of Trenton, Mo.
Pfc. Dennis M. Williams, 24, of Federal Way, Wash.
