Sewing done...for now! New green hutch! Fallen heroes update:(

Good evening! Whew! I have been busy, busy between homeschooling and finishing up some paint and sewing jobs before my dh gets home tomorrow. I FINALLY got around to sewing my curtains for the living room. Definitely needed for privacy living on the main street. Oh...and I painted my hutch yet again...green...my wonderful neighbor Jessica let me try her Artichoke green paint and it was the PERFECT color for my living room...so you'll have to tell me what you think?! The picture just doesn't do it justice..I really love it green. I need to "age" it just a tad more.

I plan on putting baskets on the shelves behind glass to organize the games, movies, ect. :) But for now, I'm cleaning and doing laundry so I can pick my husband up tomorrow and have a fun-filled weekend with him:) Yippee!

Woe is me...I feel I cannot keep up with the loss of soldiers in the war. It is heart-breaking to check the casualty list and find new names added. So many are from Ft Drum...:( Please also remember the officers who are also grieving the loss of their men...they take a lot of the loss personal, and some are struggling with this responsibility. Here are some names recently added the last two days to our fallen heroes list!

Cpl. Darby T. Morin, 25, of Victoria, Canada, died Aug. 22 in Logar province, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained during a vehicle rollover. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y. He leaves behind and wife and 2 children.

Lance Cpl. Donald J. Hogan, 20, of San Clemente, Calif., died Aug. 26 while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif

The Department of Defense announced today the death of four soldiers who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. They died Aug. 25 in southern Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked their vehicle with an improvised explosive device. They were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, 5th Stryker Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Wash.

Killed were:

Capt. John L. Hallett III, 30, of California.

Capt. Cory J. Jenkins, 30, of Arizona.

Sgt. 1st Class Ronald W. Sawyer, 38, of Trenton, Mo.

Pfc. Dennis M. Williams, 24, of Federal Way, Wash.

Thank you to all those who support our troops and for your prayers for their families!

Your recent posts have really been thought provoking. Its so easy to forget when the war doesn't directly impact your own little world. It's hard to hear, really hear and think about all the loss and pain. Thanks for jarring me out of my comfort zone. BTW, I am praying for you too, I know this has got to be hard on you at an entirely different and more painful level. I'm praying for peace in the depth of your soul. Love you!
Along lighter lines, I love, love, love the green that you chose for your painting project!!!! But then of course, I do love green! Its a color that is alive and refreshing. Blessings!

The green is very nice.

Now take the advice from a military wife who has been living the life for several years and made it through 2 deployments and preparing for a more than likely 3rd next year. Stop looking at how many we are losing. Yes we need to remember them, we need to pray for them, but for your sanity to you need to stop reading and watching any news coming from there. I know where you are coming from, we all want the US to get their minds straight and stop paying so much attention to 'stars' and more attention to those that protect their freedom, the true heros and stars.

I did what you are doing the first time, the second time I learned to not watch the news. It will make you far more paranoid and on edge and trust me you will already be paranoid and on edge just going through it.

Just pray for all the military my dear and try to stay sane ;) Which we all know is hard for you to do haha jk

aww thanks for all the lovely comments! As difficult as it is for anyone to read our losses in war, I'm posting the names of fallen heroes because it is my way of paying them honor and respect for their sacrifice to our country and for the hope of a better future for another country. I hope thousands of other bloggers will see these names and it bring to memory that there are still soldiers fighting a war, and we need to keep them in our prayers and remind ourselves that there is a price for freedom! I am honored to be the wife of an American soldier and I know we both make sacrifices now, for a better future for us and others whether it's temporal or eternal, I trust God for the whatever happens. :) BTW sasicas's husband is my brother who just came back from serving his 2nd year in Iraq! I thank the Lord he is back safely and back with his beloved fire department! :)
