ARMYNews

TGIF!!!! Because it means that my soldier can take a small break
from studying to spend time with us! He's been madly studying all
week for yet again a new job. He was chosen to train to fly the
Army's surveillance plane called the Raven.

What is the Raven?:
The AeroVironment RQ-11 Raven is a remote-controlled miniature
unmanned aerial vehicle (or MUAV) used by the U.S. military and
its allies. The craft is launched by hand and powered by an
electric motor. The plane can fly up to 6.2 miles (10 km) up to
altitudes of 1,000 feet (305 m) above ground level (AGL), and 15,000
feet mean sea level (MSL), at flying speed of 28-60 mph (45-97 km

This plane is used to produce real-time surveillance of the battle
field. Which is especially crucial to saving lives!

There are only two people in a brigade that train to operate the Raven...
hubby is one of the two! No pressure right? He is doing awesome though.
He made a 100% on his first flight test, and he had another test due this
morning. Needless to say he's been studying all week after working
all day. They spend 8 hours in class four days a week and the other
two they practice flying.

He is excited for this huge opportunity to be able to move up in his
career, as he will be a major asset to his company! He will be taking
the Final test in a couple weeks, in which if he passes he will be
presented with a license and certificate.

In other Army news, my soldier will NOT be deploying after all in
January 2010! Yipee! He is still deployable and rumor has it he may
deploy in March to Afganistan. Meanwhile, I'm relishing the fact that
he will be here till my birthday! :)

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Continue to remember and honor our troops in Afganistan. At least eight
soldiers were reported killed in the last two weeks. Remember their
family and friends in prayer. The friends of those killed still over in
Afganistan have a difficult journey ahead dealing with their loss of a
battlebuddy as well! Thank you to all who lovingly support our soldiers
with prayer and thanks!
