Raw Juice Therapy

This baby is at the top of my Wish list this year! It's an electric juicer sold at COSTCO for $99.99! Expensive yes, but worth every penny as you will literally be "drinking to your health"! The reviews are incredible!

I thought I would share with you the health benefits of Juice Therapy. We've been discussing this in class (nutrition/holistic medicine).

The vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and antioxidants found in fruit and vegetables are concentrated when made into juices. Second, juicing increases bioavailability of these micronutrients.

It is vital to extract juices and use them quickly to avoid unnecessary loss of minerals, vitamins, and enzymes.

Always use fresh, organic fruits and vegetables. Farmers markets can be good resources for fresh produce. You may also find organic farmers in your area who are happy to find a buyer for their imperfect produce, which is perfect for juicing.

You can make juices from single fruits and vegetables or combinations. Never mix fruit and vegetable juice together. Mixing them impairs digestion and assimilation, resulting in gas and only a partial assimilation of nutrients.

Try to savor each mouthful of the juice. This not only enhances your enjoyment, but also allows your saliva to begin the digestive process that usually occurs during chewing. Do not heat the juice at all, as this will also destroy nutrients. Do not use juice to replace your fruit and vegetable intake, as juicing removes most of the fiber.

Try to use organic fruits and vegetables in season, as this is when their vitamin and mineral content are highest.

Fruit Uses:

  • Apple: General cleanser, fights infection, stimulates digestion.

  • Apricot: Blood builder, constipation, skin problems.

  • Grape: Energy boost, low blood pressure, anemia, and respiratory problems.

  • Lemon: Gout, arthritis, laxative, and sore throats (always dilute).

  • Pear: Mild laxative, constipation, and skin eruptions.

  • Beets :Dissolves calcium deposits, kidney problems, constipation, and nerves.

I have one and LOVE it! My hubby got it for me for my bday off of craigslist for 50 bucks! Maybe you could look on there too? :)

Really?! That's awesome! I found them cheaper on Amazon too, but I'll have to keep a look out of craigslist! :)

I love fruit but I prefer to eat it whole without juicing it. Not much of a vegetabale lover unfortunately.

Have owned a juicer for 10 yrs (that brand but the older version) and have used it on and off for a number of years. It was great especially for when cold and flu season would hit, I would juice my kids a shot of oranges and apples. My mom used to juice carrots, spinach, and a couple slices of apples for her morning dose of energy but I'm bad and only care to juice fruits due to the favor. ;) Oh yes, only down fall that I found to juicing is that it can get costly, so when I juice I would get the fruits that are on sale, cause when juicing for a family it can take quite a few produce to make a single glass but other than that...its great!

I don't juice, but I do "smooth". I love the idea of a juicer, but with a powerful blender (like VitaMix or BlendTec) you get everything you do with a juicer PLUS the fiber that the juicer removes. I "eat" green smoothies every day: spinach, and other green leafies, mixed with fruit and things like ginger and flax. Super healthy and very tasty.

$100 is a great price, actually. Cheap juicers don't last long (in my experience), I even had one explode -- seriously.
I try to drink fresh carrot and beet juice every other day... but sometimes I forget.
